D and I made vision boards today! We started this last year and it’s become such a fun tradition. All year long I collected all the junk magazines and adverts we got in the mail, along with all the free crap people hand out or is available in my office building. Finally — time to put them to good use!
Here’s his:
Here’s mine:
Can you tell one of us is OCD about projects like this? *Ahem.* We try not to get too metaphorical and just go through and find images that strike us. (And by “we” I mean Damon reminds me about that throughout the process when I start stressing that mine doesn’t look as good as his.) I love me some good symbolism, but am always open to more overt choices as well.
Afterwards we like to show them to each other, and discuss our goals. We then hang them over our desks as a reminder throughout the year. We share our dining room as an office, and it’s helpful to be able to see each other’s boards as well. An important part of a good partnership is knowing the other person’s goals and being able to give them a little push when they need it most.
One thing I forgot to put on my vision board was us taking our Christmas decorations down. I have high hopes this will still happen in 2016.
Have you ever made a vision board? If not, do you need a big pile of leftover magazines?
